Original Jack and Lug Wrench

JackInformation currently available suggests the screw-type jack originally supplied with the Universal Jeep was unpainted. The base was 6-1/8 x 4-1/8 inches, minimum height 6-1/2 inches.

1955 JackLawrence Wade's original jack from 1955 is seen here in a photo by Rus Curtis.

ToolsCommon practice is to paint the jack to combat rust, a frequent enemy in Jeep toolboxes. Black is probably the most popular color. Jack Ahlberg's tool kit includes a tire iron, which isn't listed in the Willys Parts List as original equipment.

Thanks to Rus Curtis and Jack Ahlberg. More comments and details welcome. -- Derek Redmond
